Musician

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with music in diverse settings, including wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, marching band, steel band, chamber groups, and solo performances. These experiences have allowed me to develop musical skills but also deepened my passion for music and its expressive power!

Orchestral

For six semesters, I served as a Principal and Co-Principal clarinetist in the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Ricardo Averbach, contributing on both Bb and Bass clarinet. During this time, the Orchestra performed in many different places, Including performances at the Ohio Music Education Association Conference in Columbus, Ohio, and the College Orchestra Director Association Conference at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

During my time with the Symphony Orchestra, I had the privilege of performing renowned works such as Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade among others. In these performances, I proudly served as the principal clarinet, contributing to the rich, expressive interpretations of these masterpieces.

While in the Wind Ensemble, I had the opportunity to perform some of the most iconic works in the wind band repertoire, including Shostakovich’s Festive Overture, Donald Grantham’s Southern Harmony, Karel Husa’s Music for Prague, and Leonard Bernstein’s Candide Overture.

Wind

The mentorship of Mr. Gary Speck and Dr. Daniel Farr has been fundamental in shaping my musical journey. Over the course of five semesters, I served as Co-Principal clarinetist in the Wind Ensemble, playing both Bb and Eb clarinet. This experience challenged me to grow as a musician and refine my skills in a dynamic, collaborative setting. The Wind Ensemble has taken many trips, including the CBDNA conference and performing at Music Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Repertoire Quintet

As a member of the Repertory Quintet for three semesters, I gained a broader perspective on chamber music. We performed works by composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos and György Ligeti, and under Dr. Aaron Pergram’s coaching, I learned the importance of focus and precision in achieving a higher standard of execution in a chamber setting.

Clarinet Ensemble

I was a founding member of the Miami University Clarinet Ensemble, where I performed for three semesters. In the summer of 2024, we were given the opportunity to travel to Dublin, Ireland to perform in the International Clarinet Association Convention.
